Kappa Alpha Theta

Delta Iota Chapter University of Puget Sound

Welcome to Theta!

A Message from our President

Welcome to the Delta Iota chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Puget Sound! As the current chapter president I am overjoyed to represent and work with the wonderful members of this chapter. We are all dedicated leading women that strive for greatness in all our endeavors. We actively participate on campus and in the greater Tacoma community, which improves our lives as well as the communities. Our members develop skills during these years that enrich their lives and arm them with tools that will help them succeed in the future.

The women of the Delta Iota chapter pursue academic interests with a dedication and passion for learning. With members representing a wide variety of majors ranging from business to fine arts to computer science, Thetas can be found studying across campus, whether that be in the library, on stage, or in the lab. In addition to classes, our members take part in a wide variety of clubs, sports, and activism. With representatives from honor societies, varsity athletics, residence life, ASUPS, the Center for Intercultural and Civic Engagements and many more. Delta Iota women are extremely active in our Puget Sound community with the goal of making it better and more enjoyable for others.

One major part of serving the Tacoma community is actively participating in service and philanthropy. The members of Delta Iota volunteer with a wide range of organizations, such as local hospitals, schools, and prisons, where their goal is to make a difference. As a chapter, we strive to make a difference nationally by supporting Theta’s national philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). We support this organization by hosting fundraising events such as Rock the CASA and Pancakes for CASA. We also strive to educate the women and greater Puget Sound community about the mission of CASA and how we can all be advocates for the children. Over the years many members of our chapter have become CASA’s and are now working within the system to help foster children. Service is one of the most important aspects of our chapter whether it be advocating, volunteering, or educating, members are always involved with the focus of bringing change.

Our chapter places an importance on sisterhood and the connections we share as members and sisters. These relationships are ones that will follow us through life, these friendships are lifelong. We as sisters of the Delta Iota chapter have a special bond due to the placement on family values that we strive to create in the house. There is always laughter and fun when we get together. Here at Delta Iota we are building relationships that are supportive, loving, and timeless. The members of this house push each other to be their best possible selves and I know that I am lucky to be a part of this amazing Theta community.

Theta love and mine,

Kayli Brown

President
